The reason is the growing number of people infected with COVID-19
Greece imposed today evening hours from 01.00 to 06.00 and other restrictions on the tourist island of Mykonos. The reason is the growing number of people infected with coronavirus, AFP reported, citing a statement from the authorities.
In addition to the evening hour, the measures include a 24-hour ban on all music, according to Deputy Civil Protection and Crisis Management Minister Nikos Hardalias. The restrictions will be in effect until July 26.
“We call on the citizens, visitors and traders of our beautiful island to follow the measures so that Mykonos can return to normalcy,” Hardalias said.
Will the new measures against COVID-19 in Greece affect tourism in the country
The island is one of the main tourist destinations in Greece and its picturesque beaches and active nightlife attract hundreds of thousands of tourists each year, including celebrities.
On July 15, Hardalias warned that the number of active cases of coronavirus had quadrupled in one week, to more than 300. He explained today that organizers of private gatherings involving more than 20 people risk fines of up to 200,000 euros.
