This weekend and early next week, residents and entrepreneurs in Limburg will dry their houses and properties, so that the water damage can be absorbed. This is leading to a high demand for submersible pumps, wet and dry vacuum cleaners and aggregates among construction and rental companies, according to a call round by the NOS. To meet this demand, equipment is transported from the north of the Netherlands to Limburg.
“I now have 80 drying machines, 40 were already collected yesterday. I received another 150 from this branch from Amsterdam and Den Helder, but some also went to Maastricht because of the expected flooding in the residential areas there,” says the branch manager of rental company Bo-rent in Heerlen. The supply of machines already started this week.
Ready for a rush
Because the delivery is arranged per branch, the rental companies cannot indicate exactly how many water pumps and drying machines they have rented in total. In any case, the companies are getting ready for a rush.
“We opened an hour earlier this morning to bring in enough construction dryers, so that people can rent them immediately on Monday. People are also still without electricity, so sufficient generators are also needed,” says an employee of rental company Boels in Maastricht.
Quick clean up
DIY stores also notice that people and entrepreneurs are busy cleaning up and drying. For example, many cleaning supplies and work gloves are sold. And to accommodate the affected residents and entrepreneurs, discounts are given and they can use water pumps and dryers for free.
“The stock is now completely gone, but we also receive stuff from other rental companies, so we can continue with the promotion,” says the branch manager of the Gamma DIY store in Echt, who has started making submersible pumps available free of charge since today. wet and dry vacuum cleaners.
The hardware stores indicate that it was difficult to anticipate the high demand, because the stocks were already in. From next week they can order again and they hope that people and entrepreneurs can clean up as soon as possible and continue recording the damage.
