The
HT Medical Women’s Imaging Unit It is made up of a multidisciplinary team of radiologists, pathologists and radiodiagnosis technicians specialized in studies of the breast, female genital tract and densitometry. A unit specialized in the diagnosis of women that HT Médica now inaugurates at the Covadonga Hospital.
Dr. Estela Fdez. Cuadriello leads this Unit and points out that “diagnostic imaging is essential for the early detection of cancer.” “Our intention is for women to be comfortable in a space created just for them, outside of hospital stereotypes and conventions.”
The Unit performs diagnostic tests of Densitometry, Ultrasound and Mammography with tomosynthesis, also known as 3D mammography. “It is the most advanced form of mammography,” he explained. The particularity of this technique is that it allows a 3-dimensional breast to be laid out in planes, offering greater diagnostic precision. “Breast cancer is a heterogeneous disease and, therefore, having high technology is not a whim, but a necessity to carry out a correct early diagnosis.”
This technique improves the detection of breast cancer by between 35 and 45%, also significantly reducing the radiation dose compared to conventional digital mammography.
Comprehensive diagnosis of the breast in 72 hours
The
HT Medical Women’s Imaging Unit has established a ‘single act’ protocol that consists of performing all the necessary tests for the patient on the same day and thus being able to achieve an accurate and comprehensive diagnosis. Thanks to the integration of imaging and pathological anatomy techniques, it is possible to obtain the results of your diagnostic tests / biopsies in a maximum of 72 hours, compared to the usual standard of more than 2 weeks.
