The personal data of tens of thousands of civil servants have ended up in the wrong places. According to outgoing Minister Grapperhaus of Justice and Security, the data breach concerns 65,000 government employees, mainly from his own ministry.
An external employee who carried out quality checks at the Ministry of Justice and Security had, in violation of the rules, copied an analysis tool from the Ministry “to his own working environment” and then to the systems of the Public Prosecution Service and the GGD GHOR, for which he was also responsible. worked. When copying the tool, the personal data would also have been accidentally copied.
Grapperhaus says he takes the matter very seriously. The data breach contains personal data such as the name, email address, type of employment and passport number of civil servants. It’s not about private addresses or phone numbers or passwords.
The leak was discovered by the GGD GHOR during a routine check. The Ministry of Justice and Security was immediately informed.
Three investigations have been launched into the data breach. All officials involved have been informed.
