Italian Championship bans green uniforms from 2022

From the 2022/23 season, the Italian Championship will no longer allow green uniforms for out-of-the-line players. The rule, which appears in article 2 of the competition regulations, is intended to serve the interests of television.

The objective is to prevent the color of the uniforms from being too similar to that of the lawn, interfering with the transmission contrast and making it difficult for the viewer to see it.

The disclosure of the new rule takes place a year in advance so that clubs already work with this impediment for the uniforms that should be released in mid 2022, before the start of the new season.

The Sassuolo, who wears a green and black striped main uniform, as well as the newly promoted Venezia, which has green, orange and black as its main colors, should look for alternatives for next year. Besides them, other clubs have already used the color in their spare shirts or third uniforms, as was the case with Lazio last season.

The alloy also determines that alternative uniforms are contrasting, that is, one light and one dark. If they wear more than three colors, one of them must be clearly dominant in the shirt, shorts and socks, while striped or striped shirts must have an alternative that does not repeat the colors.
