The deadline for submitting the tax return via Tax-on-web has been extended. Normally, the deadline for this was Thursday, July 15 at midnight. “But because of the flooding and the associated power failures, people are given a postponement until midnight on July 20,” said the spokeswoman for Finance Minister Vincent Van Peteghem (CD&V) to Belga.

Minister Van Peteghem previously called on the Belgians not to wait until the last minutes before the deadline. Last year, approximately 1.6 million tax returns were filed through Tax-on-web. At 2 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 1,376,899 tax returns had been filed online.
Agents, such as accountants and tax experts, who want to file their clients’ tax returns, have until October 21 to do so. The deadline for returning the paper tax return was June 30 this year.
