In Quincy-sous-Sénart, the hospital is inspired by JR to thank its “heroes” for the health crisis

“Look, there you are,” a woman shows her colleague. The latter takes out her phone and immortalizes her own portrait, surrounded by hundreds of others representing the 350 people who work in the private hospital Claude-Galien, in Quincy-sous-Sénart (Essonne). After a year of work, the photographs of Reynald Pitzini have been exhibited for a few days on a 30 m long tarpaulin at the entrance of the establishment. An “admirable team”, as the banner underlines, which fully worked during the health crisis.

With nearly 30 hospitalizations per day on average during the three successive epidemic waves, staff had to cope with an unprecedented workload. “We wanted to tell them that they are real heroes. We also wanted to show them as they are in everyday life, without a mask, without a gown, explains Romain Lacaux, director of the hospital. For this, we were inspired by what the contemporary artist JR did at the Opéra Bastille (Editor’s note: which was covered with a multitude of portraits of caregivers) with more artisanal means. “

“We lived a long and difficult period”

The tribute touched the main concerned. “It reminds me of what was done after the killing at Bataclan. I felt the same outpouring of solidarity. On this fresco, we are all united, whatever our status ”, is touched Hervé Rémy, radiopharmacist. “We lived a long and difficult period, it was not good times. There are some of my colleagues that I have never seen smile. I’ve never seen them without a mask. There we see them differently. We take a different look at them. It feels good, ”says Alexia Corujo, an emergency nurse for two years.
