Airlines with an order sign for a hundred aircraft have also invested in their manufacturers.
Another airline has announced a major entry into electric mobility in flying. US carrier United Airlines has announced the purchase of 100 new ES-19 electric aircraft from Heart Aerospace. Simultaneously with the purchase, the carrier also announced a capital injection into the company through its United Airlines Ventures fund.
The nineteen-seat aircraft is to be operated for United by Mesa Airlines, which provides long-term flights for carriers. According to the manufacturer, the aircraft has a range potential of up to 250 miles. It is scheduled to enter regular operation in 2026.
This is another big step for electric flying from United: the company announced its purchase in February electric air taxis. According to United, this is the next step in becoming a carbon-neutral airline by 2050.
There is a lot of talk about electric planes, but so far none of them fly in regular operation. However, orders for such machines are increasing. The first should to discover next year in Norway.
