If you are an Iphone owner and a lot on the go, Apple has now expanded the range a bit when it comes to battery packs that give the phone a longer life. The website 9to5mac was among the first to notice the news.
Without making a big deal out of it, Apple just started offering a new battery pack under the well-known Magsafe name, simply called Magsafe battery pack.
Attached directly to the mobile
Unlike standard battery covers, the Magsafe battery pack attaches directly to the phone, and for the record, this product is specifically designed for all Iphone 12 models. The Norwegian price is just under 1100 kroner.
The battery pack is thus magnetically attached to the back of the phone and charges the battery in the mobile wirelessly. Similar products are already offered by third parties, but this is the first product of its kind from Apple.
According to Apple, the battery pack charges the phone with a power of 5 watts, and charging begins automatically when you attach it.
Much lower capacity than Iphone 12
The package can also be used as a wireless charger à la Magsafe charger by connecting the battery pack to the mobile with a Lightning cable, then the power will be 15 watts. If you use a separate charger that delivers at least 20 watts, as Apple’s own USB-C charger, you can charge the battery pack and the mobile at the same time.
Apple emphasizes that when you charge both at the same time, the iPhone will charge up to 80 percent or higher before the battery pack begins to charge. 20 watts charger is also what you have to use to charge the battery pack itself, via Lightning-USB cable.
The package has a status light that indicates that it is charging and a green light that is displayed when it is fully charged. The manufacturer has not stated the capacity, but one of the pictures of the product reveals that the capacity is 1460 mAh, which is significantly lower than the Iphone 12 battery operates with – 2815 mAh. This means that you do not get a fully charged mobile battery with the battery pack.
