At the fateful moment, however, Poirier stood in the inverted guard just like Conor, his right elbow was more protruding, so there was a higher risk of Conor hitting him. And that’s exactly what happened. Kavanagh also adds that the teep kick should be performed horizontally, but Conor’s kick is more reminiscent of the karate technique, as if trying to stab Dustin’s leg in the abdomen from below. The interplay of these circumstances ultimately led to a fracture.
“If you let it go, we’ll see exactly where it happened.” adds Kavanagh. Slow-motion footage of the fateful moment was also shared on social networks by well-known commentator Joe Rogan. It is good to see everything Kavanagh described in an interview with Laura Sanko. After the aforementioned teep kick, McGregor stepped on his leg, but when he transferred the weight to it again after another combination of punches, it did not last and broke.
