MENLO PARK – Instagram recently introduced a new feature called Security Checkup. This feature is useful for users whose accounts have been hacked, so they can be quickly and easily recovered.

Launching The Verge page, Wednesday (14/7/2021), this feature will guide users through security measures, including confirming other accounts that share login information, reviewing login activity, and updating recovery contact information.
Instagram also plans to add two-factor authentication (2FA) support via WhatsApp. Currently 2FA only uses the phone number option and the authenticator app at this time.
The existence of this new Security Checkup feature is in line with information from Instagram that an increase in the number of accounts receiving direct messages (DM) on behalf of themselves as Instagram was found.
Worse, the DM asks users to share their passwords.
In fact, the company ensures that it only sends checkable emails with the words “Emails from Instagram” for various purposes related to user accounts.
This simplified security feature was rolled out amid a recent wave of password reset emails attacking some users.
The email is valid from I nstagram and possibly from bots trying to access multiple accounts at once.
