On August 1, 2021, Germany’s largest manufacturer of sports boats, Bavaria Yachtbau (Giebelstadt), will have a new boss: Marc Diening (45) will succeed Michael Müller (64), who is moving to the company’s advisory board. For the past five years, Diening was head of the fire protection technology division of CNH Industrial with the core company Magirus.

When asked, a spokesman did not provide figures for the 2020/21 financial year (31.7.) Coming to an end. The latest available data from the report in the Federal Gazette show sales of EUR 65 million for the 2018/19 financial year – that’s a good half of what was on the books before the bankruptcy. In the meantime, business seems to have stabilized. “The incoming orders are very good,” confirmed the Bavaria spokesman. Yacht construction benefited about as much from the pandemic as the caravan sector. Overall, however, the supply chains are “no longer as stable”, which has led Bavaria to “extremely expand” warehousing for the resins used, among other things, over the past few months.
