Luhut Asks for Changes in the Working Hours of Workers, Only 15 Days a Month

Jakarta

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan request that workers’ work schedules be rearranged during Emergency PPKM. Luhut saw a change in the condition of the Corona case during the 11th day of Emergency PPKM.

“Our numbers (community mobility) today are quite good, healing is increasing, meaning that areas with Black Zones change to Red, Red Zones to Yellow Zones, well that’s quite a lot today. workers, where this industry is still a lot of red. If possible, I suggest that their work schedule be tightened,” said Luhut while chairing a virtual coordination meeting, Tuesday (13/7/2021).

Luhut has also coordinated with the Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah so that there is a new regulation on working hours for workers. Luhut asked the workers to work at the workplace 15 days a month.

“If he should work 30 days a month, this becomes 15 days. So a day at home, a day at work. This is also in principle to avoid the workers/laborers being ‘laid off’,” said Luhut.

The Minister of Manpower was asked to immediately make regulations related to changes in the working hours of workers. This is so that there is no misinterpretation about workers having to stay at home for a day.

“WFH and being dismissed, please make it clear, so that later it can be translated through ministerial regulations or circular instructions from the Minister of Home Affairs. So there are no different interpretations,” said Luhut.

He also said that 50 percent of workers who have to work in the workplace must be tightened again. He asked for a lunch hour arrangement.

“So don’t let them have lunch together, causing a crowd. The point is to pay attention to meal times, don’t meet to eat together. I leave this to the Minister of Manpower Ida,” said Luhut.

“Our figures (community mobility) today are quite good, healing is increasing, meaning that areas with Black Zones change to Red, Red Zones to Yellow Zones,” said Luhut.

On the other hand, the Minister of Manpower Ida has issued a Circular (SE) addressed to the Governor to appeal to company leaders. Company leaders were asked to facilitate their workers to participate in vaccinations, health care equipment.

“In fact, we also convey to companies if possible to provide means of self-isolation if any of their workers are exposed to COVID,” said Ida.
