The project led by QScale will set up technological infrastructures capable of “high performance” calculations, such as those required by artificial intelligence. The company also wants to allow greenhouses to recover the heat generated by the center.

The value of the project is estimated at 867 million. Construction will take place in eight phases over a seven-year period. The investment would create more than 200 jobs.

The intervention of the Government of Quebec takes the form of a loan of 60 million and an investment of 30 million in limited partnership shares in the company. “This project responds to a rapidly growing global need due to the volume of data generated by mobile applications and new technologies, including artificial intelligence,” said Eric Girard, Minister of Finance and Minister of the Economy and ‘Innovation, in a press release.
