Large attendance at the Lamentin vaccination center, more than 500 appointments made this Tuesday

The announcements of President Emmanuel Macron tending to compulsory vaccination for certain personnel in contact with vulnerable populations and the expansion of the vaccination pass are felt this morning (Tuesday, July 13). The Lamentin vaccinodrome could vaccinate nearly 800 people today.

Queues in front of the vaccinodrome. This Tuesday morning, the day after the presidential and prefectural announcements, many Martinicans came to the Lamentin Sports Hall. Witness the lines of people waiting for their first vaccine dose.-According to Dr. Daniel Vigée, who officiates on the spot, more than 500 appointments have been made as of today, the vaccinodrome could immunize around 800 people during the day. This shows a clear increase, already visible for a few days.

Overloaded telephone line

Yesterday, Monday July 12, 730 vaccinations were carried out, while the number of patients rather turned between 350 and 400 in June.
An increase in demand which saturated the telephone line this morning.
Ironically, given the decreasing demand, the vaccination space has been relegated to a smaller room for a few days. At the start of the campaign, she was standing in the large gymnasium. It now takes place in the Martial Arts Hall.

The number of vaccinations multiplied by 4 in a week

More generally, vaccination has been on the rise in Martinique since early July. The number of first-dose injections thus increased from 234 on July 2 to 1,015 on July 9. That of the 2nd doses changed from 329 on July 2 to 851 a week later.
But the vaccination rate for over 70s is still relatively low: 25.1% on July 2 against 83.4% nationally and 26% on July 2 against 84% nationally.

A disputed vaccine obligation

At the same time, the vaccination obligation is strongly contested by part of the population and several associations. Several calls for demonstrations are launched this Tuesday, 9 p.m., in front of the prefecture of Martinique by the Mouvement des Jeunes Martiniquais acting pour ses Avenir (MJMA) as well as by a lyannaj of associations, including Assaupamar, which denounces an attack on rights. – .
