Līga Ondzule lives in Skrīveri, who is raising three children with her husband. On weekends, the family goes to church together, finishes homework and visits their grandmother. It seems that what could be amazing in this family idyll? This is the league’s occupation – she is currently the only woman in Latvia who works as a chimney sweep. Yes, every day she dresses in her black uniform with bronze “lucky” buttons and climbs to the roofs of houses, which often have a beautiful view of the surroundings.
Despite the fact that Līga’s father is a chimney sweep with seniority, for a long time she could not even imagine that she would follow in his footsteps. After graduating from high school, Līga did not have a clear vision of where to study. Mom suggested going to Riga Technical University, the girl obeyed and entered the university. When Līga realized that she would not be able to pass the German language exam, she took an academic year and went to Germany to work as a nanny. She returned to Latvia with her brilliant knowledge of the German language and a new call: “I really enjoyed working with children, so when I returned to Riga, I looked after the children in the playgrounds.”
She later graduated as a weaver and textile artist and for a time even worked for a company that sews linen products.
