Around 18:30 this Monday, a plane from Argentina landed at the “Silvio Pettirossi” international airport in Luque. 100,000 doses of Russian vaccine against covid-19 Sputnik V.
From the airport, the vaccines will be transferred to facilities of the Expanded Program on Immunization, and tomorrow they will be distributed to the vaccination centers.
The vaccines arrived after leaving Moscow and making a stopover in Buenos Aires, as the Paraguayan Foreign Minister announced on Sunday. Euclides Acevedo.
It was not yet specified whether the doses arrived today in Paraguay correspond to the first or second dose of the Russian vaccine.
Paraguay bought a total of one million doses of Sputnik V, of which only 404,000 have been sent so far, including those received this Monday.
MORE PFIZER VACCINES
After the arrival last Friday of a million doses of the Pfizer vaccine, donated to Paraguay by the United States, the government authorities affirmed that This week the first shipment of part of the million doses of Pfizer that were bought by the country should also arrive.

Without confirming dates or the number of doses that will arrive in that first shipment, Foreign Minister Acevedo said Sunday that those vaccines could arrive next weekend.
MASS VACCINATION
This Monday began a new stage of the vaccination campaign against covid-19 in Paraguay, driven by donations from the United States, with the beginning of the vaccination of “essential” workers such as teachers, police, military personnel, officials of points entry to the country, communicators, among others.

From Tuesday to Friday the vaccination will be extended to all people over 35 years of age in the country.
The Health Ministry said the goal for the week is to apply 500,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, reserving the remaining 500,000 for second doses.
