A man sick with covid and what had a full vaccination schedule has died at the Bellvitge Hospital, has explained the intensivist of this center Rafael Máñez, in which it is the first case of these characteristics that has transcended in Catalonia.
In an interview on TV3, Máñez has detailed that he was a “correctly vaccinated” patient, with the last dose injected “two months ago”, and who passed away last week in Bellvitge.
Has highlighted that it is an “exceptional” case, because this 80-year-old patient had developed a low level of antibodies as a result of the vaccination.
The doctor has emphasized that vaccines work to prevent serious forms of covid, to the point that, at the moment, citizens who “have not been vaccinated for over 50 years” they are those that “constitute the maximum risk”.
Vaccination is not a guarantee of not getting infected And, in fact, in the Bellvitge Hospital, fifty health workers are on sick leave due to COVID-positive, despite the fact that around 45 have the complete vaccination schedule.
