Pro – European presidential party wins Moldovan parliamentary elections The news

Chisinau, July 12, LETA – RFE / RL / INTERFAX. The “Action and Solidarity” party of pro-European President Maija Sandu, who won the early parliamentary elections in Moldova on Sunday, shows the results obtained after counting the votes in 95.5% of polls.

The PAS won 52.51% of the vote, while 27.73% of the electorate voted for the Communist and Socialist bloc, led by former Presidents Vladimir Voronin and Igor Dodon, as the main rivals of this political force.

The national conservative party “Shor”, led by businessman Ilans Shors, received 5.73% of the vote.

Other political forces have not overcome the 5% barrier.

20 parties, two blocs and one independent candidate fought for 101 parliamentary seats.

48% of voters took part in the elections.

The PAS will have an absolute majority in parliament, with 60 or 61 out of 101 seats, according to preliminary estimates.

This will allow the party to form a government on its own.

“I hope that this day will be the end of Moldova’s difficult era. I hope that this day will be the end of the thief power in Moldova,” the president said on Facebook on Sunday.

The 52.51% of the votes cast by the SPC in the elections are the best result any political force in Moldova has achieved in the parliamentary elections.
