The Apple M1 has such good efficiency that it was allegedly a mistake in Apple

Processor Apple M1 brought the ARM architecture to Apple computers. Now we can find it in Mac mini, MacBook Air and 13 “MacBook Pro, now also available in iMac. Its advantage is excellent performance and at the same time relatively low consumption. According to Apple engineers, the goal was clear. Calling Intel is not enough, because then there would be no a reason to waste so many resources on development if it wouldn’t make a significant difference.

Bob Borchers, who is part of Apple’s product marketing manager, recently mentioned an interesting story about processor development in interviews. When Apple marketers got a prototype computer in their hands, they allegedly played with it for a while and the battery indicator didn’t move. They considered it a software bug (a broken battery status indicator). Tim Cook, who was supposed to be in the room as well, reportedly just smiled and said no, that’s the way it should be. The fact that the indicator did not move after a few hours is hard to believe (unless the computer was connected to the network), however, the fact that the Apple M1 actually significantly outperforms previous Intel processors in terms of efficiency.

In addition, we should soon see more powerful variants of the M1X and / or M2. Macy Pro could climb 40 CPU cores and 128 GPU cores in the future. Another keynote has not been announced yet, but if everything goes in the traditional dorms, it could be in the second, maybe third week of September.
