Superhero movie made Disney latest new’Black Widow‘ pocketed US$80 million in three days of screenings in America. This number is a record for the era of the corona pandemic.
Quoted from AFP, industry observers Exhibitor Relations revealed that the Marvel Universe shows a never-ending attraction. The film, starring Scarlett Johansson, earned an additional US$60 million from the streaming platform on Disney Plus with a breakdown of US$29.99 per subscriber and US$78 million internationally.
This achievement brought the film to pocket a total global revenue of US $ 218 million. The Hollywood Reporter said never before had a film studio announced total streaming over the opening weekend of a film of this magnitude. The film hasn’t even opened in China yet.
Following behind Black Widow, action film ‘F9: The Fast Saga’ pocketed US $ 10.9 million, down more than half of last weekend’s revenue.
The film has held the previous pandemic-era record with a $70 million opening. Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and John Cena star in the ninth film Fast and the Furious.
While the third position is occupied by ‘The Boss Baby: Family Business’ with US $ 8.7 million. This animated film about a clever baby boss features the voices of Alec Baldwin, Eva Longoria, Jeff Goldblum and Lisa Kudrow.

Paramount’s ‘A Quiet Place: Part II’ took fifth place with US$3 million. This amount pushed total domestic revenue to close to US$150 million in the seventh week. John Krasinski directed the film, while his wife Emily Blunt starred in the film.
This weekend marked the first time since Covid-19 hit, the domestic box office has surpassed $100 million. This week the box office reached US $ 116.8 million, 20 percent higher than last weekend.
