Scarlett Johansson On Special ‘Black Widow’ Script That Was Rejected

For years there has been talk of a Black Widowsolo film and this one is finally here. During a recent interview late Scarlett Johansson know that there was an idea for a movie around her character before, but Kevin Feige did not agree to this.

In Black Widow, by director Cate Shortland, the Russian heroine finally gets a solid backstory, in which we gain more insight into her thoughts and motivations.

The film takes place just after Natasha Romanoff has broken the Sokovia Accord and is forced to flee, but at the same time she faces the villain Task Master. However, the film could have been very different.

For example, Johansson says: ”A while back we came up with a very different idea, one in which Florence Pugh’s Yelena is more or less the villain. Because she wants to take Romanoff’s place, so we have to compete”.

At first I said: ‘I can’t do anything with this’. But we worked on it anyway and it was really existential but a bit strange. We talked about it with Kevin Feige, but he laughed it off and said he couldn’t do much with this. It may have been a strange script but I thought it was cool, I would have loved to work on it”.

Even though this film may never be seen again, the chances are pretty high that Pugh will take over from Johansson in future projects, who now seems to be saying goodbye to Marvel.
