Problems with voting machines in some places in the country. In 5 sections (in Dobrich, Karnobat, Brusartsi, Polski Trambesh and the village of Yankovo) the Central Election Commission decided yesterday to move to voting with paper ballots due to problems with machines. After checking technical problems with the machines, the voting with such was stopped in 7 more sections – two in 23 MIR Sofia, two in Silistra, two in Blagoevgrad and in Burgas.
In the 25th DEC in Sofia, 8 of the sections switched to ballots. There are also defects with the machines in Burgas, Varna and Silistra. These are card or printing problems. And in Spain, one of the devices stopped for a while, but was repaired.
Less than 1% are electronic devices that have caused a defect, explained the CEC.
PROBLEM WITH MACHINES: In Polski Trambesh they went to paper voting
By noon, machine voting was suspended in another 42 sections. The total number of those who vote on paper is 53. For the time being, the CEC defines this number as insignificant.
The CEC also made the important decision to empower the District Election Commissions to suspend machine voting if necessary so as not to waste time.
“The reasons for the machines not working are the following – the machine has not started at all, the printer device is not working, the provided card is not for this machine,” explained Rositsa Mateva, deputy chairwoman and spokeswoman for the Central Election Commission.
And the CEC has decided that declarations can be filled out outside the sections abroad.
There are about 25 signals and complaints about violations received by the CEC, in addition to the problems with the voting machines. Mateva clarified that a signal has been received for election campaigning on the Internet – for the appearance of images of political leaders. Such agitation cannot be punished by the CEC. There is also a signal from one of the news agencies to announce the interim results.
