Francis said a prayer stressing the importance of a functioning health care system, as well as world news, including the events in Haiti, where the president was assassinated this week.
On July 4, the Pope had an operation on part of his colon due to inflammation.
This is the first time Francis has had to be hospitalized since he became pope in 2013.
