Record COVID mortality in Russia for two weeks in a row

Russia has a catastrophic situation with coronavirus, but quarantine is not introduced

Over the past week, more patients with infection have died in Russia than in the whole of July 2020.

In Russia, 5,077 people died from the coronavirus COVID-19 over the past week. This is a new record, reports TASS Sunday, July 11th.

Previous record – 4643 deaths – was registered at the end of last week.

At the same time, the mortality rate against the background of high morbidity remains almost unchanged – in seven days it increased from 2.46% to 2.47%.

Mortality rates in Russia are significantly higher than a year ago: for example, more cases died in the country in a week than in the entire July 2020 (from July 1 to July 31, the headquarters reported 4,643 deaths).

It should be borne in mind that the data of the headquarters are incomplete and take into account only those cases when covid became the main cause of death, and this was quickly confirmed, the agency points out.

The incidence of coronavirus in Russia continues to increase, but its growth rate is declining. From July 5 to July 11, 172 392 infected were detected in the country against 159 650 in the previous seven days (an increase of 8% against almost 19% a week ago).

This is partly due to the stabilization of the situation in Moscow, where the number of detected cases has decreased again. The headquarters registered 41,463 infected against 48,838 a week earlier (15.1% less).

The number of people who recovered in the country increased by 131,318, which is almost 17.1% more than in the previous same period. Nevertheless, the number of so-called active cases continues to grow – now in the country, according to the headquarters, 440,112 people are being treated. This is the maximum since February 5th.

We will remind, this week in Russia announced that Delta strain is delivered to them from Europe and the USA.
