Restaurant owners, waiters and waitresses may have a new duty to check the infectivity of customers. “We talked to the representatives of the restaurants, they themselves are interested in making the restaurants work so that they do not have to close. They are ready to apply the rules,” said Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch (for YES).
But restaurant representatives speak differently. “We have to be sure that the measures will be well implemented in gastronomy. We are not yet. We also have to be sure that it is legally justified. We are not yet either. And we have to be sure that this is a better solution than that. And we are not sure of that either, “Luboš Kastner from the Association of Small and Medium – Sized Enterprises of the Czech Republic told Nova TV.
“It would be a big complication, we are here in two and there are a lot of guests here for lunch and I can’t control everyone who comes,” complains waiter Michal Kačmár.
“Even if we had the legislative support, it would be terribly bad for us. We have a relationship business with the guests and anything like that to limit them is irrelevant,” said Václav Veríř, the owner of the Na Verandách restaurant.
“Today, when we have the single certificate, the single QR code, I think it would not have to be a problem and a delay in the practice,” believes Vojtech. “These people really have no experience with this operation,” Kačmár stated.
Some restaurant operators are already deciding not to comply with any ministry regulations. “We will not comply with these unconstitutional measures. The maximum we are willing to give is temperature measurement. People have their common sense and must decide for themselves,” said Jiří Janeček, operating the Malý Janek brewery.
“Since most of the things that the Ministry of Health invented, the court swept off the table, I think we will join the other colleagues and not control it,” said the owner of the Sokolovna restaurant, Michal Zvěřina.
It is still up to the customer to provide proof of infectivity if necessary. If the ministerial idea passes, the operators are likely to be responsible. According to the chief hygienist Pavla Svrčinová, the inspections of hygienists in restaurants will intensify during the holidays.
