The Falcons indicated that only this Saturday they found out what happened and through a statement said that they are pending of the situation.
“Our organization learned today (Saturday) of the allegations involving Barkevious Mingo and we are currently collecting information on this incident.”
“The Falcons take the allegations very seriously and will continue to monitor the situation,” the club added.
Mingo was arrested Thursday on the second-degree felony charge, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison under Texas state law.
According to the state penal code, the charge relates to having sexual contact with someone under the age of 17 or causing the child to have sexual contact.
According to Tarrant County records, Mingo was released on a $ 25,000 bond Friday.
Mingo signed a one-year contract with the Falcons in March.
