This result is viewed with optimism so much for President Guillermo Lasso that yesterday he went to receive his second dose at the University of Guayaquil. It is also an incentive for authorities and officials of the Municipality of Guayaquil who joined with the delivery of food kits, for members of private companies, productive sectors that seek a responsible reactivation both for the city and for the rest of the country.
“We have very good news: we have again broken a record, about 170,000 vaccinated. About 5 million Ecuadorians have been vaccinated, as of July 5 we have begun a second stage that plans to vaccinate 6 million Ecuadorians in the first dose until the end of July and 6 million Ecuadorians until the end of August. The system is massive throughout Ecuador. In Galapagos, 95% of the population is already with the two doses. We have increased transparent monitoring systems in this process ”, explained the president after receiving his immunization in the coliseum of the Faculty of Physical Education.
He commented that all the steps were taken to get the vaccines, to guarantee the immunization of Ecuadorians, so he asked citizens to go to get vaccinated, and then continue to be very careful with the use of the mask, application of alcohol and avoid staying in crowds.
The vaccinations were full from 08:00. One of the points was the sports complex of the Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo (UEES). Two of the beneficiaries were Susana Domenech, 50, and her father, Julio Domenech Acosta, 82.
She commented that months ago they took him to vaccinate at the Convention Center in Durán, but because he had just come out of the COVID-19 infection they recommended that he wait a while, so after three months they brought him in and he already managed to complete his first dose anti-COVID-19.
Vice President Alfredo Borrero commented that from July 15, vaccination will be open to all Ecuadorians over 16 years of age. “Now only people need to come with their identity card and get vaccinated,” explained the second president last Thursday when he went to receive the second dose at a center in Quito.
He added that by next week the 250,000 doses of the Cansino vaccine will arrive and that they plan to increase the number of vaccinated to 200,000 per day in order to reach the goal of the 9/100 plan.

For today, care is planned in the four vaccinations in agreement with the Municipality of Guayaquil, such as the Bolivarian Technological Institute (ITB), Solca, Mucho Lote 1 and the Salesian Polytechnic University (UPS) via the coast. In these centers, food kits are delivered to people with vulnerability who have the complete vaccination schedule, that is, the two doses of the anti-COVID-19 vaccines.
Vaccination points such as La Salle, the University of Guayaquil, the Almirante Illingworth Naval Academy, the Sara Flor Jiménez school, the Cristóbal Colón school, among others, will also be open.
Vaccination in universities
Several universities have joined the anti-COVID-19 vaccination campaign of the 9/100 plan for the immunization of the population scheduled by the Ministry of Health (MSP) and these days they increased the quota for their students and alumni as part of an agreement.
For example, yesterday students from the Espiritu Santo University of Specialties attended the Faculty of Medicine, building F, to access immunization.
They had previously registered on a platform enabled for this process. The university sent a statement detailing that the students and alumni They should be attentive to their emails since they are sending the calls with date and time for the vaccination process.
UEES staff commented that this process is also part of the progressive return to the classrooms maintained by the Government and that the plan was started with graduate students, alumni, volunteer students and from the Faculty of Medicine, communication, architecture, engineering that they are among the most exposed due to their field activities.
Volunteer students who will collaborate with the vaccination plan as typists, in logistics of the faculties of Administration, Tourism, Business and Economy, among others, were also vaccinated. They received training from the Zonal 8 Health Coordination to be clear about the process and collaborate with new vaccination points in Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón.
In addition to this university, Ecotec and the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil (UCSG) also began their vaccination processes against COVID-19. The students registered on the various platforms to find out the date and time they can go to their respective vaccination points on campus.
University personnel indicated that without having that record and the respective confirmation, they cannot approach vaccination because there is strict control in this process.
Students and alumni were enthusiastic about this opportunity, since many are practicing their professions, others are already working, but immunization has not yet been completed in their companies, so they qualify as positive this management that increases the number of immunized to the virus. (I)
