The Holzer farming family has livelihood problems. Agriculture is no longer profitable. The ski lift, which provided the father with extra income every winter, is automated. The Holzers cannot benefit from tourism either, as their farm is located between the valley and mountain stations. In the best case scenario, the bus tourists will have a short “pee stop”. So the family – father, mother and two grown children, daughter and son – come up with a business idea to steal at least a few Franconian from tourists. They set up a kind of “peep show”: they show their healthy, rustic Swiss world and get paid for it. Even the 90-year-old grandfather is included in this “performance”. When money is inserted, the curtain opens and reveals the living room. To their astonishment, they succeed with it, the money box fills up more and more day by day. But the money changes the supposed idyllic everyday life of the Holzers: Soon it is no longer what it was for them. By adapting to audience tastes, they expose themselves and old wounds are broken. The perfect world of the Holzers no longer exists.
Markus Köbeli’s farce makes the audience laugh with sparkling wit and sarcastic humor, despite the serious subject.
