ID&T initiates summary proceedings for new corona measures

Festival organizer ID&T is filing summary proceedings against the government because of the tightened corona measures. The organization calls the measures disproportionate.

“We are now the good who suffer from the bad,” says director Ritty van Straalen. “It seems that the government prefers holidays to festivals.”

The outgoing cabinet announced last night that the corona measures will be tightened, after the number of infections has risen sharply in recent days. Hospitality establishments must close at midnight from today and multi-day events are prohibited. Events can last up to 24 hours, and a seat is required. In the event of a negative corona test, the one and a half meter rule may be dropped, but the seat remains mandatory.

According to ID&T, their events can be organized safely. Research by Fieldlab Events showed last April that events could continue with a series of safety measures. “It is our expertise to organize events well and safely and we know that our audience has the discipline.” ID&T director Van Straalen. The lawsuit is due early next week.

Guilty Pleasure Festival was to be held in Zuidoost this weekend. A spokesperson for that festival called the new measures ‘a big damper’. “We have everything ready here. This is just powerlessness.”
