The reopening of the municipal hostel for pilgrims in Burgos, in the “House of Cubes”, which manages the Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago, by Agreement with the town hall of the city, it will reopen its doors on Thursday, June 3. Although they have not yet satisfied the debt of about 35,000 euros in expenses derived from maintenance due to lack of income, after 10 months of closure in the year of the pandemicThey trust in a solution with the arrival of municipal funds.
The hours will be from 12 to 22.30 hours. The staff will leave the ERTES and will return to normal at work this June 1 to clean the facilities. The capacity will be, in principle, a third of its capacity, 50 persons.
This reopening coincides with the inauguration of the Pilgrims Reception Center in the street of the Assumption of Our Lady. The aforementioned Center will adapt to a schedule to welcome the pilgrim who is passing through Burgos, when he approaches there, requires information about the Camino de Santiago, needs to stamp his credential, leave his backpack and also take the opportunity to view an audiovisual on the Camino from Santiago. It will be the VIII Centennial Foundation of the Cathedral the person in charge of everything: staff and maintenance of the facilities.
The Association plans to resume the initiative of the Marches on the Camino de Santiago Burgos, in this Compostela Jubilee Year, which will continue in 2022.
