The independent Cupra brand finally offers a product with a premium stamp. The Formentor VZ5 crossover has seen the 390-horsepower five-cylinder, which is presented in a number of pictures and videos. Driving through the door first is no stranger to him!

Three years ago, the sports division of the Seat carmaker became a separate carmaker Cupra with a focus on performance cars. She had a slow start, because from the beginning she represented only rebranded seals with sharper engines. The turning point came with the Formentor model, which does not have a comparable equivalent in the mainstream production of the Volkswagen Group. It is the first independent Cupry model and at the same time its first car, which “can” do more than four cylinders.

The Formentor VZ5 borrowed an 2.5-liter five-cylinder Audi, which is tuned in its bowels to 287 kW (390 hp) and 480 newton meters of torque. The aggregate here has ten horses less than in Audi RS Q3, but still manages acceleration from rest to a hundred in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 250 km / h.
In addition to the great engine room under the hood, the VZ5 version also boasts other modifications. For example, it received specific 20-inch wheels, six-piston Akebono brakes, wider tires and a chassis reduced by 10 millimeters. There is also an adaptive chassis with 15 levels of adjustment or a distinctive exhaust system with four tailpipes in copper color on the sides of the carbon diffuser.

We are still waiting for the Czech price list and the first driving impressions. However, some colleagues from other parts of the world have already had the honor of riding the Formentor VZ5, and it seems that it will be not only a powerful but also a fun tool. Although the car gets all-wheel drive, it is equipped with a drifting mode, with which it cannot be persuaded twice to drive sideways. The brand plans to build only 7,000 copies.
