Beach volleyball player Tīna Graudiņa / Anastasija Kravčenoka won the first game of the playoffs in the four-star stage of the World Tour on Friday in Gstaad, Switzerland, and reached the quarterfinals, according to the organizers. In the men’s tournament Aleksandrs Samoilovs / Jānis Šmēdiņš lost in the eighth final and shared the 9th place in the tournament.

In the first game of the elimination tournament, Graudiņa / Kravčenoka won 2: 0 (21:19, 21:14) with the American Kelly Claire / Sarah Sponsor and in the fight for the place in the semifinals on Saturday they will meet with the Polish pair King Vojtasik / Katazina Kociolek.
Samoilov / Šmēdiņš, in turn, in the eighth final with 0: 2 (13:21, 18:21) conceded to the world champions Russians Oleg Stoyanovsky / Vyacheslav Krasilnikov.
It has already been reported that both Samoilovs / Šmēdiņš and Graudiņa / Kravčenoka won both games in the group and immediately entered the second round of elimination or the eighth final. The winners of the groups were immediately in the second round of the elimination or eighth final, while the last remaining teams ended the tournament. The other two teams in the group ended up in the first round of elimination.
It has already been reported that the second participants of the Tokyo Olympic Games Mārtiņš Pļaviņš / Edgars Točs previously lost in the first round of elimination and finished the tournament in the shared 17th place.
