Slovak hockey representative Michal Krištof will try out the Czech extra league for the first time in his career. After an early end in Kärpäte Oulu, the 27-year-old center agreed on a contract with Kometa Brno. The official website of the club informed about it.
Krištof will meet several compatriots in Brno, in Komet he will be the fifth Slovak reinforcement after Matej Tomek, Marek Ďalog, Marcel Haščák and Andrej Kollár.
“After the season in Oulu, I asked my agent to find out which clubs would be interested in me. Kometa called and I think it was the best choice. I’m looking forward to a great background, fans and another advantage will be the fact that we will have it close to home after a long time, “ Krištof said for the club website.
The Slovak striker left Kärpät after three seasons, and agreed with the management of the Finnish club on the early termination of the contract. This was originally to apply to the year 2021/2022. In the 2018/2019 season, he helped Kärpäta to win silver medals.
Last year, the Finnish Liiga scored 24 points (10 + 14) in 57 regular season meetings and two assists in five playoff duels. He also started at the World Cup 2021 in Riga, where Slovakia advanced to the quarterfinals after eight years. At the championship, he scored a goal and assistance in eight matches.
