Switzerland has become the first country outside the community whose vaccinated citizens will be able to travel across Europe without tests or quarantine.
The European Commission on Thursday, July 8, recognized the Swiss certificate of vaccination against coronavirus as equivalent to a pan-European document. About it reported Swissinfo publication with reference to the EC.
The decision comes into force on July 9.
Thus, the European Commission noted, Switzerland became the first country outside the EU and the European Economic Area to enter the European travel area.
Now, in theory, Swiss in the EU and Europeans in Switzerland will be able to travel without the need to undergo tests or quarantine.
At the same time, Swissinfo reminds that in various countries due to the pandemic some rules and conditions still apply. In addition, some EU states have not yet created the necessary infrastructure for the introduction of the certificate, and are still in a “transitional phase”.
“EU countries reserve the right to restrict entry to travelers from regions they consider” risk zones “due to high rates of coronavirus infection or the widespread spread of more infectious strains such as the Delta variant,” the publication noted.
Let’s remind, on July 1 in Ukraine in test mode earned COVID certificateswhich are already included in the European Covenant Certificate Repository and must be accepted in Europe. Four days later, the first coronavirus vaccination certificates appeared in the electronic application Action.
