JAKARTA, iNews.id – The government from 3 July to 20 July 2021. Strict activity restrictions have made many people choose to buy food through delivery applications or online motorcycle taxis.
However, there are rumors that food purchased from outside can be a medium of transmission Covid-19. This makes people worried. Is it true?
Epidemiologist Griffith University Australia, Dr. Dicky Budiman, stated that the issue was not true. “No, it’s wrong. Covid-19 is not a food-borne disease. So far there is no data that can strengthen this,” he said, when contacted, Thursday (8/8/2021).
“For example, in China, I’m sorry that people talk loudly when they eat, so it’s not because of the food but because of what they talk. Like in Australia, just breathe close (with positive people) especially when you talk, that’s what transmits it. So it’s not from the food, there’s nothing like that,” said Dicky.
Dicky continued, Covid-19 infection includes the Delta variant virus as infectious from the airborne aspect.
“It means more on airborne, meeting positive people. The Delta variant is infectious from the airborne problem, from the air it becomes easily infected. For example, the seller doesn’t wear a mask, it’s natural (infected) because you are close and there are droplets Not to food, but to droplets to people, that’s what happened. Not from food and drink, not from water either. So there’s nothing like that,” he said.
