The national government announced an agreement to buy vaccines against the coronavirus developed by the US laboratory Modern, which has already requested authorization to apply the drugs among children under 17 years of age. The contract would be signed on Monday, as confirmed by official sources to AM750.
Moderna’s vaccine is one of three currently applied in the United States and the contract, to be signed on Monday, will allow access to a significant number of doses, as reported.
The signing of the agreement comes after last week by decree President Alberto Fernández made changes and modifications to the vaccine law approved in 2020, which among other issues removed the use of the word “negligence” to detail what would be the responsibilities of laboratories in case of problems.
Moderna’s vaccine is 94.1 percent effective in protecting against coronavirus from 14 days after the first dose is applied. According to preliminary studies, the effectiveness is not altered with the B.1.1.7 (Alpha) and Delta variants.
