Thursday, July 8th: Incidence value increases
The corona incidence in Berlin rose for the fourth day in a row and is now 6.2. The number of new infections reported is 52. Another death related to Covid-19 was also registered.
Corona variants: For the first time more Delta than Alpha in Berlin
The delta variant of the coronavirus that originally appeared in India is now the most widespread mutation in Berlin. In the week before July 4th, Delta was detected for the first time more frequently than the alpha variant originally from Great Britain (B.1.1.7).
The delta variant accounted for around 29% of all corona infections in the capital last week. The alpha variant was 20.2%.
Wednesday, July 7th: Incidence value increases slightly
On Wednesday, the corona incidence in Berlin was 5.6. This means that the value has increased slightly compared to the previous day. In a weekly comparison, the number has remained almost unchanged.
The number of new infections registered is 55. In addition, one death was reported.
Senate confirms further corona easing
With the deadline of July 10th, the Berlin Senate is significantly easing some corona protective measures. In addition to private meetings, this also applies to the FFP2 mask requirement as well as dance and cultural events.

Tuesday July 6th: Seven-day value back over five
The Robert Koch Institute reported a seven-day incidence of 5.3 for Berlin on Tuesday. Compared to the previous week, the value has accordingly still decreased. The number of new infections is 54. After three days without a death, the health authorities also report two deaths.
Monday, July 5th: Corona incidence increases minimally
At the beginning of the new week, the corona incidence in Berlin rose by 0.1 points and is now 4.9. The number of new infections is three. It is also the third day without a registered corona death in the capital.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 180,268 people in Berlin have tested positive for Covid-19. 3,559 of them died.
Sunday 4th July: the incidence value drops below five
On Sunday, the corona incidence value in Berlin was 4.8 for the first time in 2021 below the 5 mark. Only two new infections were reported. There were no new deaths related to Covid-19.
Saturday July 3rd: incidence drops by 0.1
On Saturday, the seven-day incidence in Berlin was 5.0 and thus lower than the day before and also below the previous week’s value. The number of new infections is 39. No deaths were recorded.
Friday, July 2nd: the seven-day value continues to decline
The incidence in Berlin also fell again on Friday. The value is now 5.1. The number of new infections is 17. In addition, the health authorities registered a death in connection with Covid-19.
Thursday July 1st: incidence also drops fourth day
For the fourth day in a row, the seven-day incidence fell. It is 5.5 on Thursday. In addition, the RKI reports 47 new infections and one death related to Covid-19.
Wednesday June 30th: the incidence value continues to drop
Also on Wednesday the incidence value was 5.7 lower than the day before. In addition, 30 new infections were registered. The number of reported deaths related to Covid-19 is two.
Tuesday June 29th: incidence drops to 5.9
On Tuesday, the Robert Koch Institute for Berlin again reported a lower seven-day incidence. The value is currently 5.9. The number of new infections is 27 and there was another death.
Despite the low incidence – mathematicians anticipate an increase in infections
Berlin mathematicians urge caution in the case of excessive and drastic loosening, despite the currently low number of infections. For example, Dr. Tim Conrad from the Zuse Institute Berlin in the rbb program of Radioeins before the repeal of the mask requirement indoors. Such a step could have dramatic consequences and lead to increasing numbers of infections in late summer.
The mathematician, who deals with models of future infection processes in his work, also appeals to travelers. “Basically there is little that speaks against traveling, but you just have to be careful (…)” and should keep your distance from other people and wear a mask.
Monday June 28th: Corona incidence remains unchanged
The seven-day incidence in Berlin remains unchanged at 6.5 on Monday compared to the previous day, according to the Robert Koch Institute. According to the RKI, there were no new infections and no deaths on Sunday. However, reports may be late due to the weekend.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 180,102 people in Berlin have tested positive for Covid-19. 3,556 of them died.
