Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
There are steps you can take to prevent accounts Instagram personal target hack or even deleted by irresponsible people.
Previously, the official account of BEM KM Semarang State University (Unnes) was lost on Instagram. The account disappeared after BEM KM Unnes uploaded a criticism of Vice President Ma’ruf Amin and DPR Chairman Puan Maharani on the Instagram account.
Now cases of hacking Instagram accounts or other social media seem to be commonplace, especially for critical account owners. As many as 22 percent of internet users are said to have reported having their accounts hacked at least once. Here are some ways to prevent it:
Use a unique Instagram password
This method sounds simple, but is the first thing you can do to prevent account hacking.
Use a password that contains a combination of numbers, letters, and punctuation. It is not recommended to use a password in the form of birth date or own name because it is very easy for others to guess. To make it even more secure, use different passwords for each login to different platforms.
Unaccess third-party apps on Instagram
Without realizing it, Instagram users often allow access to third-party applications. Usually like an application to edit photos and photo preview applications before uploading.
To check it, go to settings on account -> then go to Security. Then go to Apps and Websites to see a list of allowed third-party applications. If there are suspicious applications or no longer used, remove access.
Two-Factor Authentication on Instagram
This method allows users to receive a code via SMS that must be entered when logging in. Only those with the number can receive it.
Before activating it, make sure your mobile number is registered to the account. After that Go to Settings -> Security -> then Two-Factor Authentication. Then activate Text Message.
However, according to Later, Instagram has now improved the feature by adding the Authentication App. Similar to the code sent via SMS, Instagram has now collaborated with third-party applications to generate a login code.
How to open Settings -> Security -> Two-Factor Authentication -> then enable Authentication App. Instagram recommends a third-party app called Duo but users can also use other similar apps.
