tbh I can’t even remember the old interface anymore..
What I can recall, however, is that it took me quite some time to get used to the new (ribbon) interface and that this has resulted in more than enough frustration.
I have the feeling that these kind of interface/UI changes are often not that big of a problem for the average user.. but for power users who have ‘muscle memory’ for every task/submenu and do things on semi-automatic pilot in such a software package it is of course a completely different story.
Suddenly you have to look for a specific icon for a specific function of which you don’t even really know what it looks/looked anymore because you don’t so much remember the icon but the position in the interface that you look at without really consciously. watch for years.
Same as mouse acceleration so to speak.. that’s nice for people who stare at their cursor as they move it across the screen, but for someone who wants to do something with one quick movement without looking from muscle memory, it’s dramatic that the cursor movement’s distance is variable and depends on your speed of movement.
