President Moise was shot dead at his home by a group of mercenaries at his home on Wednesday morning local time. Capital Martine Moise was wounded in the attack and was taken to hospital.

Haiti’s Police Chief, Leon Charles, said in addition to shooting dead four suspects, police forces also arrested two other suspects.
“The police are still in a battle with the attackers,” Charles said in briefing which was broadcast on television Wednesday night, as quoted The Mirror, Thursday (8/7/2021).
“They will be killed or arrested,” he said. It is not clear how many mercenaries were involved in the assassination of President Moise. The motive for the killing has not yet been revealed.
