Here’s How to Overcome Shortness of Breath in Covid-19 Patients

Harianjogja.com, JAKARTA – Shortness of breath is often experienced by patients with Covid-19. Shortness of breath occurs because the patient’s body lacks oxygen in his blood.

Therefore, every Covid-19 patient is required to measure the oxygen saturation level in his body regularly.

Prasetnohadi, a lecturer at FKUI and a doctor at the Friendship Hospital in Jakarta, provides tips for COVID-19 patients who experience shortness of breath.

Here are the tips uploaded to the account Instagram @radiokesehatan:

1. The patient or family must have a pulse oximetry device to measure oxygen saturation. If oxygen saturation is less than 90, give oxygen immediately.

2. Try sleeping on your stomach. Do it for 30 minutes to 1 hour repeatedly so that the distribution of oxygen in the lungs is more even.

3. If you can’t sleep on your stomach, sleep on your right or left side. This is one way to improve oxygenation in the lungs to be more even.

4. Sitting position supported by a high enough pillow.

5. If the effort still doesn’t work, then you have to buy or try oxygen.

6. If it still can’t, the last resort should be immediately referred to the hospital for further treatment.

Those are some tips for dealing with shortness of breath when infected with Covid-19. He also appealed to be more calm in the face of shortness of breath when infected with Covid-19.
