CONMEBOL resolved to donate to Brazil a total of 20,000 doses of the vaccine against COVID 19 manufactured by the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac Biotech Ltd. The immunizers will be sent in the next few days.
With this gesture of solidarity with the Brazilian people, CONMEBOL seeks to recognize the country that hosts the CONMEBOL Copa América 2021, whose final match is scheduled for Saturday, July 10.
In April of this year, CONMEBOL received a donation of 50,000 doses of the vaccine from the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech Ltd. for the CONMEBOL Copa América and South American football. In the first days of May, an extensive vaccination campaign for players, coaches, referees and assistants began, leaving some 20,000 doses in reserve for the CONMEBOL Copa América and which are now being delivered to Brazil. Of this amount, a little more than 5,000 will be for the field of football, while the destination of the remaining balance will be decided by the Brazilian government.
