The gorgeous and talented Serena Rossi back on the set for a new fiction, in the wake of the great success with Mina September and that will see her again protagonist in the second season. The series directed by Giacomo Campiotti, entitled La Sposa, will air in the autumn of 2021 and for three episodes in prime time.
Serena Rossi’s face is that of a bride by proxy, inserted in a cross-section of a 1960s Italy in which this type of union was widespread. The beautiful Neapolitan actress is here a poor girl from the South who is given in marriage to an unknown (and wealthy) man from Northern Italy.
The writing is of Valia Santella, as well as the screenplays he signs with Eleonora Cimpanelli and Antonio Manca. The protagonist is Serena Rossi, ready for a new challenge after the overwhelming success of Mina September. In this case, it is a completely different project aimed at telling a reality that has lasted for years.
The story told is that of Maria, Calabrian girl who agrees to marry her nephew, rich landowner from Vicenza –Italo Bassi (Giorgio Marchesi) – to help the family which is now experiencing serious economic hardship. The goal, for the Bassi, is to carry on the dynasty through the birth of numerous children.
Maria thus leaves for the North, where she will have to deal with a different and not always welcoming environment but also with the heavy work in the fields. Her husband, then, will show hostile since still tried by the loss of his wife Giorgia.
The relations between the two spouses are tense and often conflicting, but in this sea of problems there is also a light, that of Pauline (Antonio Nicolai), son of Italo and Giorgia. The little one is still shaken by the loss of his mother, who disappeared in mysterious circumstances, but he will be the only one able to ease the tension between the two spouses.
In addition to family problems, there are also social problems dictated by the continuous strikes of day laborers and workers, who begin to struggle to assert their rights.
It will be curious and interesting, therefore, to see Serena Rossi immerse herself in a new role, very far from the ones she has accustomed us to in recent years. The appointment is for autumn 2021 with The bride, a new fiction Rai certainly not to be missed.
