Australia, Sydney lockdown extended one week
The lockdown in force since the end of June in Sydney will be extended by at least a week to counter the renewed Covid-19 epidemic, the authorities announced today, reporting 27 new cases of contagion. The five million inhabitants of Australia’s most populous city have been living since June 26 with a ban on leaving their homes, in an attempt to contain the progression of the highly contagious Delta variant. This measure, which was to last for two weeks, was extended by at least seven days. This means that the lockdown will be in effect at least until July 16th.
