Larry Rudolf, who helped Spears get to her first and all subsequent record contracts, said she was terminating her employment with the singer, the broadcaster told the BBC.
Rudolf had been with Britney since the beginning of her career, when she was addressed as a singer by her singing mother. Rudolf calls Britney “almost like a daughter”, the two worked together for 25 years. Along with Britney, he also represented artists such as Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson and the Backstreet Boys.
Rudolf has told a letter to his star father, Jamie Spears, who is still Britain’s guardian, about his intention to resign as manager, although a number of lawsuits have been pending over the past year to ensure that the singer has self-determination. Last week, a court in Los Angeles rejected Spears’ attorney’s request to release his father from custody. According to court documents, the singer is “practically incapable of managing her financial resources, resisting fraud or influence”. Britney Spears does not perform as long as her life and cash flow are controlled by her father.
Meanwhile, Rudolph said he had last communicated with Britney two and a half years ago and said that he wanted to revise both employment contracts, offering him a job for an indefinite period. “And this morning I find out that Britney wants to retire. As a manager, I believe that my professional services are no longer needed, and it would be in her own interest for me to resign,” Rudolf said. He adds that he has never been in the infamous guardianship company and is proud of what he has done in 25 years.
“I wish Britney happiness and health! I will be by my side if the need arises. It is very emotional and difficult for me. I have been with her for a third of my life, I look at her as my daughter,” the manager said.
As you know, there are currently lawsuits in which Britney Spears and her support team are trying to free the artist from his father’s guardianship. Since 2008, her professional activities, financial flow and private life have been controlled by the father of the 39-year-old singer. In one of the courts, Spears reported that she had been weeded, forced to speak, forced to use contraception, even though she wanted a baby, and was not allowed to meet her friends. In the public sphere, Spears is supported by a number of other singers and even by the father of her two sons, ex-husband Kevin Federlain.
