Although there is only one currency in Europe, there are some Euros that are worth much more than others. Often commemorative coins, or those minted in a few pieces, or those that came out of the mint with minting errors, are worth more than their face value.
For those not used to certain speeches, these dynamics may seem almost surreal, but in reality it is all true. There are some rare specimens that can be worth a lot, such as “The price of this 2 euro coin is reaching mind-boggling figures”.
Today we will analyze another coin, also for 2 euros, which is worth knowing.
Whoever finds this 2 euro coin is very lucky and must hold on to it
The 2 euro coin that we will see in this article is that of Ireland, minted in 2018.
On the obverse we find the Celtic harp in the center, a symbol that belongs to the Irish tradition since the Middle Ages. On the left the writing “EIRE”, which is the name of Ireland written in the Gaelic alphabet; while on the right the year of minting, i.e. 2018.
On the reverse, however, we find the common face of the Euro, with the face value and the borders of Europe, which include the new member countries. On the copper-nickel exterior are the usual 12 five-pointed stars.
On the outer contour, however, there is a sequence of “2” alternately oriented upward and downward, and other 12 stars.
The coin weighs 8.5 grams, has a diameter of 25.75 millimeters and a thickness of 2.2 millimeters.
But now let’s see how much this coin could be worth.
Few minted pieces
The very small amount of minted pieces actually increases the value of this coin.
In 2018, in fact, the Irish 2 euro coins placed in circulation there were 83,440 with about 6000 pieces in FDC.
For this reason, whoever finds this 2 euro coin is very lucky and has to hold on to it.
The 2 Irish euros of 2018 in circulation can be worth from € 3/5, in case of perfect conditions.
As for Fior Di Conio, on the web the starting price starts at € 80/100.
