(CRHoy.com) About a month ago, the president of the United States, Joe Biden, announced that he would send around 6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to various Latin American countries, including Costa Rica.
However, to this day, the country has not received any donation from the North American country and the Government does not give clear answers on the execution or progress of the process.
On Sunday June 15, Honduras received 1.5 million of vaccines against COVID-19 donated by the United States; likewise, on July 4, El Salvador received the same number of vaccines donated by the Biden government.
In this same way, Multiple Latin American countries have already received the promised doses, but Costa Rica is still waiting for this donation.
CRHoy.com made inquiries to the Government of Costa Rica, that he did not clarify in what state the process to be followed is; nor did he say when they expect to receive said doses.
The Ministry of Communication justified that “Costa Rica has worked closely with the government of the United States to see the pertinent matters to said donation.”
They also said that “coordination is intense” without specifying which actions are being carried out, but added that “there are complex logistical and legal aspects that must be solved beforehand in order to receive the vaccines ”.
They indicated that the work has “an important advance”, but they do not give dates or details of when Costa Rica will receive the donation or how many doses they will be.
Meanwhile, health areas report a depletion of doses and fewer and fewer enter the country.
