The Kabako collective fears the expulsion during the week from the squat on rue Camille-Godard welcoming young migrants who have not been recognized as minors by the Department in appeal to the children’s judge
After the collective of associations mobilized around the Gradignan squat, the volunteers engaged in Kabako, the squat of 63 rue Camille-Godard, cry out on Tuesday, July 6.
They fear that this place welcoming more than 20 young people who have not been recognized as minors but whose situation is the subject of an appeal to the children’s judge will be evacuated in the very near future. The building was already to be evacuated by January 15, 2021 but a stay until July 5 had finally been granted by the courts.
No social diagnosis
“The Department, which is both the owner of the building and responsible for child protection, must offer a lasting housing solution for the inhabitants of Kabako”, claims the collective, which points to a legal vagueness allowing the Department to dismiss the ball to the State, the young people having been declared of age at first.
For its part, the Department of Gironde has been warning for months “on the healthiness of the building squatted by the Kabako and the importance of sheltering people recognized as minors”.
The community also assures that it was not able to carry out the social diagnosis allowing to know the occupants of the building.
