Leaving Chelsea was a Big Mistake

Jakarta

Maurizio Sarri regret the decision to leave Chelsea in 2019. Sarri called his decision a big mistake.

Sarri was appointed Chelsea manager in the summer of 2018, replacing Antonio Conte. The former Napoli coach has a three-year contract with The Blues.

However, Sarri only lasted one season at Stamford Bridge. After helping Chelsea win the Europa League, Sarri decided to leave at the end of the 2018/2019 season.

Chelsea announce that Sarri is heading to Juventus. In a statement at the time, Chelsea also said Sarri returned to Italy because he wanted to be closer to his parents.

Speaking of his decision to leave Chelsea, Maurizio Sarri admit it was a mistake. He regretted leaving earlier than Chelsea.

“At Chelsea, I made a big mistake. I want to return to Italy at any cost,” Sarri told SportItalia as reported Football Italia.

“Marina (Granovskaia) prevented me from leaving Chelsea, I have a desire to return to Italy.”

“Chelsea is a great club and in the years that followed they brought in a lot of young players who suited my style,” continued Sarri.

“I went through a certain year, where (Roman) Abramovich couldn’t enter England and our owner wasn’t present. It was quite a difficult situation, everything was in Marina’s hands and she had thousands of problems to solve, the football aspect was in the hands of the staff, no power economy.”

“Then came (Timo) Werner, (Kai) Havertz, (Mason) Mount, (Judge) Ziyech, all of whom suited me and my way of playing,” he said.

with Juventus, Maurizio Sarri also did not last long after being fired in August 2020 after Cristiano Ronaldo et al were eliminated by Lyon in the last 16 of the Champions League. The 62-year-old man is now coaching Lazio.
